A personal tribute to Michael S. Baksh and every life forever remembered.
On this September 11th, I pause not only to remember a day that forever changed our nation, but to remember someone whose loss made that tragedy deeply personal for me : my friend, Michael S. Baksh.
For so many, 9/11 is remembered through images, headlines, names read aloud, and moments frozen in history. For those of us who knew someone who was lost, it is also remembered through laughter, conversations, family photographs, friendships, and the ordinary moments that became extraordinarily precious because there would never be enough of them.
Michael was more than a name connected to September 11th. He was a son, a loved one, a friend, a human being whose life mattered long before the world knew that date as 9/11. And today, I choose to remember the life before the loss.
I remember the person.
I remember the smile.
I remember the memories.
I remember the blessing of having known him.
Twenty-five years later, the weight of that day still reaches across generations. We remember the innocent lives taken, the families forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless people who carried grief long after the smoke cleared.

But remembrance is more than looking backward. It is a call to live forward : with greater love, greater compassion, greater gratitude, and a deeper awareness that tomorrow is never promised.
Scripture reminds us:
“The memory of the righteous is a blessing.” : Proverbs 10:7
And so today, Michael, your memory remains a blessing.
To every family still carrying an empty place at the table, to every friend who still remembers a voice, a laugh, or a moment, and to every life forever connected to September 11, 2001 : we remember you.
May we never reduce that day to numbers.
They had names.
They had stories.
They had dreams.
They were loved.
And today, I speak the name of my friend:
Michael S. Baksh.
Gone from this earthly life, but never erased from the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
We remember. We honor. We pray. We never forget.

Remembering With Faith, Love, and Dignity
GospelRhythms shares this remembrance with deep respect for Michael S. Baksh, his loved ones, and every family whose life was forever changed by September 11, 2001.
A personal tribute helps us remember that history is never only made up of dates and headlines. It is also made up of people: friends, parents, children, coworkers, neighbors, and loved ones whose lives carried meaning before the world knew their names.
Faith does not erase grief. It gives grief a place to be held. It reminds us that love continues to speak, memories continue to matter, and a life can continue to bless others long after it has ended.
