BEYOND THE MOVIES: What Really Happens at Miracle Makers International Film Festival

A film festival may begin with a screen.

But the real experience happens around it.

The Miracle Makers International Film Festival, returning September 2–6, 2026, at Regal Edwards Big Newport in Newport Beach, is built to offer more than a lineup of films. Season Three brings together screenings, filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, networking, red carpet experiences, press and media opportunities, and a full Awards Show & Gala, all designed to connect creativity with conversation, access and purpose.

For GospelRhythms, that is what makes Miracle Makers worth looking at from another angle.

Because sometimes the most important thing that happens at a film festival is not what you watch.

It is who you meet, what you learn, what conversation you walk into, and what door may open because you showed up.

The Movie Is Only the Beginning

Of course, the films matter.

Miracle Makers celebrates storytelling across feature films, shorts, documentaries, screenplays, teleplays, music videos, podcasts, dance, YouTube and web series, content-creator work and more. The festival currently spans more than 80 categories, with both Faith and Open Divisions designed to welcome creators from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.

But once the credits roll, another part of the experience begins.

The filmmaker is suddenly in the room with the audience.

The person who just watched the story may be able to ask the creator what inspired it.

A writer may hear another filmmaker explain the very obstacle they have been struggling to overcome.

A producer may meet a potential collaborator.

A young creative may find themselves listening to someone whose career once felt impossibly far away.

That is the difference between simply watching content and entering a creative community.

Conversations That Move Beyond the Screen

Miracle Makers describes its panels and special conversations as opportunities for industry voices, honorees, filmmakers and creators to talk about craft, calling and what it takes to make stories that matter. The festival plans panels, Q&As, keynotes and more intimate conversations across its five-day run.

And those conversations matter because the entertainment business does not operate on talent alone.

Creators also need information.

They need access.

They need relationships.

They need people willing to answer the questions no one teaches you when you first decide to make a film, write a screenplay, launch a podcast or build an audience.

How do you finance the next project?

How do you find distribution?

How do you protect your work?

How do you market something meaningful in a crowded marketplace?

How do you continue walking in purpose while navigating the business side of creativity?

Those are the kinds of conversations that can change what a creator does after the festival ends.

Networking With Purpose

The word networking can sometimes feel transactional.

Hand someone a business card.

Give them your elevator pitch.

Ask what they can do for you.

But meaningful connection looks different.

Miracle Makers says part of its larger mission is intentionally connecting filmmakers with nonprofits, businesses, community leaders and others whose missions align, creating relationships that can amplify meaningful stories and strengthen causes long after the festival concludes.

That creates another possibility.

Instead of asking only:

“Who can help me?”

What if the better question becomes:

“Who am I supposed to meet here, and what might we be able to build together?”

That is where networking becomes partnership.

And partnership becomes opportunity.

The Red Carpet Is More Than a Photo

Yes, there will be red carpet moments.

And yes, getting dressed, stepping in front of the cameras and celebrating the work is part of the experience.

But a red carpet can also become a storytelling platform.

Miracle Makers is inviting press, photographers, podcasters and content creators to cover the festival, including screenings, red carpets, panels and the awards ceremony.

For filmmakers, that means another opportunity to talk about:

Why they made the project.
What the story means.
Who they hope it reaches.
What they are working on next.
How audiences can continue supporting their work.

Visibility matters.

Especially for an independent creator who may not have a major studio marketing machine behind them.

Sometimes one interview can introduce a filmmaker to an entirely new audience.

One photograph can travel farther than expected.

One conversation can create another invitation.

Press, Media and the Power of Being Seen

One of the themes GospelRhythms continues to emphasize throughout our Miracle Makers coverage is simple:

Good work still needs somebody willing to shine a light on it.

Creators can spend years developing a project only to discover that finishing the work and getting people to see the work are two completely different challenges.

That is why the press and media component matters.

Miracle Makers specifically provides pathways for press, photographers, podcasters and content creators to apply for credentials and cover the festival.

Media coverage can take a filmmaker from:

“I made something.”

to

“Someone is talking about what I made.”

And sometimes that difference is significant.

Celebrating the Makers

Then comes the celebration.

Miracle Makers concludes its broader festival experience with an Awards Show & Gala, where the festival says vision, creativity and purpose are honored together.

Awards will always be exciting.

Recognition matters.

But perhaps the greater value is what the award represents:

Someone saw the work.

Someone considered it worthy of recognition.

Someone told a creator, “Keep going.”

For people working in an industry filled with rejection, that encouragement can matter more than outsiders realize.

A Festival Built for How Storytelling Looks Now

Another thing separating Miracle Makers from a traditional film-only experience is the variety of creative disciplines represented.

The festival includes not only narrative films and documentaries but also screenwriting, teleplays, podcasts, music, music videos, dance, web series and creator content.

That means the person sitting next to you may not be making the same kind of content you are.

And that can be a good thing.

The filmmaker can learn from the digital creator.

The podcaster can meet the producer.

The musician can meet a director looking for music.

The writer can meet someone searching for their next script.

Sometimes innovation happens when different creative worlds stop operating in isolation.

So, Who Should Come?

Miracle Makers is clearly for filmmakers and film lovers.

But it is also worth considering if you are a:

Writer. Actor. Producer. Director. Content creator. Podcaster. Musician. Entrepreneur. Business owner. Ministry leader. Media professional. Sponsor. Student. Emerging creative. Or simply someone who believes meaningful storytelling deserves an audience.

You do not necessarily need a film in the festival to have a reason to enter the room.

Sometimes the reason is simply to be in the room.

Don’t Just Attend. Participate.

If you come to Miracle Makers, GospelRhythms has a challenge for you.

Do more than watch.

Ask the question.

Introduce yourself.

Attend the panel.

Meet the filmmaker.

Support the project.

Take the photo.

Exchange the information.

Follow up afterward.

Because opportunity does not always walk up and introduce itself.

Sometimes you have to recognize it.

And sometimes the blessing of a festival is not the ticket you purchased to get inside.

It is the connection you leave with.
